Ana Maria Rocha, 77, of Brownsville, Texas entered into the Holy Gates of Heaven on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at home surrounded by her family to reunite with her husband, Ruben.
Ana Maria was born in El Control, Tamaulipas, Mexico on March 6, 1941. Soon after her family moved to Brownsville where she was raised and became a naturalized U. S. citizen in 1968. She graduated from Brownsville High School, Class of 1961. She later on continued her education at Pan American University, where she earned her Bachelor and Master's degree in Education.
While in high school she worked at the Capitol Theatre in Brownsville along with her future husband.
Ana Maria married her husband Ruben in March 17, 1963. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 43 years. Together they raised four children.
Ana Maria was a teacher for Brownsville ISD for 35 years, schools she taught at were Martin Elementary, Russell Elementary, Porter High School and lastly Castaneda Elementary. She made a difference in thousands of students lives throughout her career.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Rocha, Sr.; her parents, Manuel and Consuelo B. Martinez; her brothers, Antonio and Armando Martinez; her sisters, Guadalupe Tillman, Maria Elena Coronado, Maria "Mary" Consuelo Torres, and Mercedes Martinez; and two grandchildren, Hope Marie Rocha and Cassie Marie Arriaga.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Ruben (Bea) Rocha, Jr., Roberto "Bobby" (Sandra) Rocha, Melissa E. (Javier) Infante, and Michelle R. Arriaga; brothers, Esteban (Margarita) Martinez and Isauro (Irma) Martinez; sister, Esperanza (Harley) Simmons; niece, Audrey (David) Spicer, and other numerous nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Lauren Rocha, Bobby Rocha, Jr. Samantha Diaz, Allison M. Rocha, Ruben Rocha III, Brittany Arriaga, Priciliano "JD" Diaz III, Ana Michelle Arriaga, Zoe Arriaga, Ramsey M. Rocha, KC Nelson, and Vivian Infante; great-grandchildren, Bobby III, Ricky, and Roselyn Rocha.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, from 12 noon until 9 p.m., with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 6 p.m., at Trevino Funeral Home Southmost. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, at Christ the King Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Honored to be serving as Mrs. Rocha's pallbearers are Ruben Rocha, Jr., Robert "Bobby" Rocha, Robert "Lil Bob" Rocha, Ruben Rocha III, Priciliano "JD" Diaz III, and Ramsey Michael Rocha. Honorary pallbearers will be Isauro Martinez and Rogelio A. Rocha.
