A life, long resident of Brownsville, Texas, Arturo C. Ramirez passed away October 23, 2014 peacefully in his home.
The world has lost a great man and mentor to many. Our father dedicated his life to serving his country and his city. He was a man of honor, dignity, honesty, and humility. He served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. As a Marine he was the recipient of the Purple Heart medal. After returning from serving his country he began serving his community as a juvenile officer, dispatcher, and as a member of Brownsvilles finest. He later went on to become Chief of Police at Texas Southmost College.
He is preceded in death by his father Alfonso Ramirez, mother Eloisa Ramirez, two brothers, Alonzo Ramirez and Javier Ramirez.
He leaves behind his daughter: Deborah R. Sergio Rubio, sons: Michael Zemba, Joe Lorinda Ramirez, Arturo Ramirez Jr., Arturo Ramirez III, siblings: Alfonso Ofelia Ramirez, Rosa Garza, Rick Ramirez and also survived by 4 grandchildren: Briana Avilda Ramirez, Sergio Rubio Jr., Andres Diego Rubio and Marco Antonio Rubio.
Visitation will begin today Friday, October 24, 2014 from 12:00pm to 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00pm in our Chapel of Devotion. Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke Parish Catholic Church at 10:00am at on Saturday, October 25, 2014 with cremation to follow as per his wishes.
We will sorely miss having him bless us with his presence.
