Douglas Keene

BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS - Douglas Roy Keene, 95, peacefully passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Raymondville, Texas. He will be greatly missed.

He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Navy Seabees during World War II. He served in South Pacific Islands of Hawaii, Espito Santos in the New Hebrides, Baniki Russells Islands, Bougainville, New Caledonia, Saipan, and Okinawa. He was a Brownsville resident who liked golf and played three times a week, walking, watching golf and enjoyed watching ''The Price is Right'' and Fox News.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Charles William and Daisy Agnes Keene; mother of his children, Ruth Eleanor Burns; and by his siblings Jack Keene, Mason Keene, Charles Keene, and Joan Bontrager.

He is survived by is loving wife, Betty Caputo Keene; daughters, Deborah Ann Keene and Diana Lynn Christie; grandchildren Danielle Oliver, Joshua Christie, Joel Christie, and Austin Keene; as well as ten great-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also, to treasure many memories are his siblings, Paul Keene and Virginia Berry.
