It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend. Elena Lucio Martinez entered into eternal rest on July 1st, 2026, at the age of seventy-nine years old. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. Her dedication to her family is memorable. Her hobbies were gardening and taking care of her plants. She also liked bird watching.

Elena is preceded in death by her parents; Trinidad Lucio and Aurora Herrera and Elena’s beloved husband, Jose Elemer Martinez Sr. and their son Jose Elemer Martinez Jr.

Family survived to treasure many memories are Elena’s daughter and two sons; Sylvia (Pedro) Ramirez, Daniel (Rachel) Martinez, Raul (Carmen) Martinez; grandchildren, Jose E. Martinez III, Nina Ochoa, Daniel Martinez Jr., Gabriel Martinez, Isaiah Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Alaynnah Martinez, Virginia Jimenez, Raul Martinez Jr., Saul Martinez; eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Visitation is on Sunday, July 5th, 2026, from 2 pm to 9 pm with a Holy Rosary at 7 pm at Trevino Funeral Home Southmost. Visitation resumes Monday, July 6th, 2026, from 8:15 am to 9:30 am with a scheduled funeral mass at 10 am at The Good Shepherd Catholic Church located at 2645 Tulipan Street in Brownsville, Texas. Services will conclude, cremation will follow.
