Guadalupe Velez

July 14, 1934 — June 27, 2017

Mrs. Guadalupe R. Velez, 82, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Brownsville Nursing and Rehab Center with her loving family at her side.

Lupe, as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Lupe was the secretary at Christ the King Catholic Church for over 30 years. Lupe was an active member of our community. She served on the PUBCAP board, was a member of the BHS and Porter High School Band Boosters. Lupe also served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a supporter of East Brownsville Little League.

Lupe was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Lupe was preceded in dear by her husband, Juan Velez; her son, Enrique "Bear" Velez; her parents, Modesta C. and Erasmo Rodriguez; and two brothers, Roberto and Rodolfo Rodriguez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Lupe is her son, Rolando Velez and his wife Dolores; the grandchildren that were her pride and joy: Valarie V. Limon and her husband John, Stacie Velez, Vanessa V. Acosta and her husband Efrain, Enrique Velez, and Steven Velez; and 3 great-grandchildren. Lupe will also be missed by her 3 sisters: Evangelina R. Zapata, Margarita R. (Jose+) Barrientos, and Olivia Rodriguez and by 3 brothers: Ruben Rodriguez and his wife Molly, Reynaldo Rodriguez, and Rogerio Rodriguez and his wife Rachel along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 12 noon and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 in the Chapel of Serenity at Treviño Funeral Home Southmost. The Recitation of the Rosary is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. The Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2255 Southmost Road. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Lupe's family members are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
