Jose Alfredo Hernandez

Jose Alfredo Hernandez "Freddy", 58, of Brownsville passed from this life into eternal life on February 16, 2025. 

Jose was born on February 12, 1967, to parents Manuel C. and Ninfa T. Hernandez in Brownsville, Texas. His caring nature and the love he had for his family and friends knew no bounds. He was a radiant individual known for his generous, kind, and outgoing personality. Jose’s ability to socialize and create memories with those around him came naturally. He lived a life filled with great passion and kindness towards others. 

Some of Jose’s passions included, fishing, playing the Lottery, poker, and his favorite color known by all who knew him was green. A true Texan fan at heart, he cherished the time spent with his family, especially when gathering with his nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous friends, whom loved him dearly. Jose often shared joyful moments with The Boca Chica Beach Boys during gatherings, making those times unforgettable. 

He is survived by his siblings Ninfa (Ambrosio) Barrientos, Manuel "Meme" (Virginia) Hernandez, Marco Antonio (Lorena) Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Gilberto Hernandez, Roberto Hernandez, Corina (Luis) Garcia, Abraham (Wendy†) Hernandez, and Jose Enrique (Blanca) Hernandez, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Manuel C. and Ninfa T. Hernandez. May Jose rest in eternal peace. 

Visitation will be held at Treviño Funeral Home located at 1955 Southmost Rd. in Brownsville, TX, Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. On Friday, February 21, 2025, visitation will continue from 8:15 AM to 11:00 AM, leading into a Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at 12 P.M. Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 1 pm.
