Lily Lopez

Lilly Marie Vasquez Lopez, 17, of Brownsville, Texas died Tuesday, August 26th 2014.

She was born to Luis Lopez and Bertha Duke, May 18, 1997, in Brownsville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Juan G. Lopez and Maria V. Lopez, and her younger sister Valerie Marie Lopez. Lily leaves behind two older brothers, Juan Luis Lopez, Jesus Luis Lopez and one younger sister, Evelyn Marie Lopez. Lily was going into the 12th grade at Lopez High School and in the top five percent of her school. She was on the color guard and in the HOSA, Heath Occupation Students of America, she had a dream of becoming an oncology doctor and had been accepted into the EMT program.

Lily was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2009 and fought for five years. Lily is the fourth child that underwent haplo bone marrow transplant experimental in May. Throughout her life she managed to impact several thousands of people and bring awareness to the need for more bone marrow donors, she has paved the way for other cancer patients who like her, are not able to fine a bone marrow match. She will always be remembered as a Warrior, Hero, Queen, and Life Changer. She was brave and fought a good fight. The legacy she leaves behind will never be forgotten.

Friday, August 29, 2014, Visitation from 9:00am to 7:00pm, followed by of Celebration of Lilys Life at 7:00pm. Trevino Funeral Home Southmost Rd., Brownsville, Texas. Saturday, August 30, 2014 visitation from 9:00am to 1:00. Funeral Service conducted by Lilys uncle, Pastor Daniel Moreno at 1:00pm, Trevino Funeral Home Southmost. Depart at 2:00pm to Guillen Community Cemetery, 9055 Boca Chica Blvd, Brownsville, Texas Graveside service and burial at 2:30pm.
