BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Maria del Refugio Andaverde, born on January 3, 1943, died on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas. She was seventy-five years old.
Maria enjoyed reading the newspaper every morning, loved watching her novellas while coloring in coloring books and working on puzzles, as well as making her way over to the flea market almost every weekend.
Her parents, Francisco and Gertrudis Arenas; brothers Francisco Arenas, Jr., Manuel Arenas, and Teodoro Arenas; and sisters, Maria Dolores Mendoza and Leonarda Arenas, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her loving husband of forty-seven years, Saul P. Andaverde, Sr.; their only son, Saul Andaverde, Jr. and his wife Gretchen; their only daughter, Veronica Balsadua; her brothers, Baltazar Arenas and Arturo Arenas; her sisters Alicia Arenas, Guadalupe Arenas, and Candida Arenas; as well as their six grandchildren Rachel Porter, Andreas Andaverde, Frederick Andaverde, Eve Andaverde, Don Andaverde, and Margarita Andaverde.
Visiting hours are on Friday, May 4, 2018, beginning at twelve o'clock in the afternoon and concluding at nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Friday evening within the Trevino Funeral Home Southmost Chapel.
Funeral services will commence on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at ten o'clock in the morning at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1055 Military Road, Brownsville, TX 78520. Committal services will then follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Park, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville, Texas 78526.
