Maria Saldivar

Maria Cruz Saldivar, 96, peacefully joined the Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

Cruz was born on June 3, 1917 in Kennedy, Texas. After losing her mother at an extremely young age her and her father moved in with his sister and husband. There Cruz took on the role of eldest sister. She enjoyed caring for each and every one of her siblings, all 12 of them. On July 3rd., 1964 she was united in marriage to Feliciano Saldivar, Sr. and she moved to Kalamazoo. Cruz enjoyed spending time with Felix at Bingo, making hot tamales, dancing, tending to flower gardens, cooking and spending time with her sisters. More recently Cruz enjoyed traveling to Texas and spending time with her great grandchildren, eating out, shopping, attending school sporting events. Cruz never looked or acted her age, and she always was up for an adventure.

Cruz is survived by her son Felix Jr., Karen Saldivar and 2 daughters, Sue Mike Westra Alicia David Shattuck. Grandchildren: Felix Saldivar III, Alicia Ron Crandall, Irma Scott Klooster, Neta Kevin Taggett, Mindy Robert Webb, Alejandro Saldivar, Suzanna Jim Emery and Tina Rodney Hanners. Many great grandchildren great great grandchildren, Four sisters, Lupe Manuel Orta, Celia ODell, Eloisa Haney. Yolanda Valentine Lopez, one brother, Mere Rachel Garza. Special weekly visitor her, great great nephew, Brenden Perry.

Graveside Service at 1:00pm on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Buena Vista Burial Park.
