Piedad Avalos

Piedad Avalos, 93, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Friday August 8th 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

Ms. Avalos was preceded in death by her parents: Gonzalo Avalos and Francisca Hernandez. Also preceded in death are her son Guadalupe Cortinas and daughter Juana Cortinas.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memories are her two daughters: Gloria Cortinas De Galvan and Mercedes Hernandez Joe Left to cherish her memory are 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Joe Hernandez, Aaron Hernandez, Eric Hernandez, Rene Hernandez, Pedro Alberto Galvan and Samuel Espinosa will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to acknowledge, praise and thank everyone who has helped, cared and has been by her side and aided her throughout the years. Piedad was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.

The Viewing and visitation will begin today Saturday, August 09, 2014 in our Chapel of Devotion from 12:00pm to 9:00pm with a Holy Rosary at 7:00pm, visitation will resume on Sunday, August 10, 2014 as of 8:00am to 2:00pm. Chapel Service will be Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 2:00pm in our Chapel of Devotion. Interment will follow to Guillen Community Cemetery at 9055 Boca Chica Blvd, Brownsville, Texas
