Sofia nació el Lunes, 15 de diciembre de 1941 en Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México, hija de Juan Báez y Aurora Longoria.
Sofia disfrutaba de la costura, así como también apreciaba el arte de la lectura y la música.
Sofia fue precedida en la muerte por su esposo Sabino Huerta Torres. Le sobreviven su hija, Elsa Annita (Daniel Navarro García) Huerta; dos nietos, Daniela (Jesús Ochoa) Navarro y Daniel Navarro Jr.; dos bisnietos, Diego y Gael Ochoa; diez hermanos, Maria Báez Espinoza, Guadalupe Báez, Mariano Báez, Olga Casas, Aurora Báez, Genoveva Cervatez, Pedro Báez, Emma Báez, Lidia Quezada Báez, Enrique Báez.
