Viola A. Benavides

Viola A. Benavides, a beautiful and loving individual, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in Brownsville, Texas. Born on September 2, 1925, in Michigan, she graced the lives of many with her generous spirit and wonderful personality.

She is survived by her devoted children: Roberto Benavides Jr., Maria de Jesus "Suzy" (Tony) Esparza, Jorge (Vicky) Benavides, and Elvira Benavides. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of family, including 30 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory.

Viola is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roberto R. Benavides, and four sons: Jose Shears, Ricardo Benavides, Pantaleon Benavides, and Pablo Benavides. 

Throughout her life, Viola enjoyed many pastimes that brought joy not only to herself but also to those around her. She had a passion for cooking, dancing, and singing, often sharing her love of music and singing on the radio.

Visitation will take place at Trevino Funeral Home in Brownsville, TX, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM that same day. Viola’s memorial service is scheduled for the following Friday, January 10, 2025, from 8:15 AM to 10:00 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home- Old Port Isabel Rd. She will be laid to rest during a burial service at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025.

May Viola A. Benavides rest in eternal peace, remembered fondly by all who knew her, as someone who loved everyone the way they loved her.
